RC Boat Hulls and Masts

RC boats are designed in conjunction with the parts of a real boat. These parts are evidently manufactured for efficiency catering the wants of those who enjoy playing with them, or for souvenir purposes. However, since RC boats are just like real boats, then, they must have the hulls and masts to keep them in operation. Before going through the details, we need to look at first what consists of a hull and a mast?

The hull specifically is the main body of the boat. It rides in water and composes the engines, decks, masts and rudders. The mast on the other hand is a strong and long pole; a round piece of timber or spar set upright in a vessel to sustain the sail yards.

In assembling a model for boats, hulls and masts are necessary. In whatever system you’d like to have, whether with the use of sailboats, glow engine boats, Gas engine boats and electric boats, the hull is always essential while the mast can be optional. The hulls of an RC boat are constructed in many designs. It could be smooth curved, chined, flat-bottom form, displacement form, planning form. The hulls of RC boats are similar to life-sized boats. No matter what form is built, the engine and decks used is always the most important factor for it should be well-fitted in the hull. Deep V or mono hull RC boats are best for uneven water conditions. They are also easy to control. For intermediate and advanced models, opt for the catamaran and hydroplane designs. They are purposely designed to run in calm water conditions at a high speed.

Masts in RC boats are considered optional unless you are designing a sailboat. Some models don’t have masts because these are radio or remote operated. Whatever design or innovation you’d like to achieve, it is always good to know first what type of boat you are interested a. When you do, the parts can then be chosen.
